Beer Radar for TWTW 11th June 2010
By John Krüger
Just because it’s getting cold and we’re downing big Barossa Shiraz rather than pilsners, doesn’t mean that the world of beer has gone on holidays. The Vale Ale crew in McLaren Vale have a new batch of Vale Ale on tap that’s fresher, hoppier and more vibrant than what we’ve tasted from them before. We’ll be keen to see what the punters think of the tweaked version at this weekend’s Sea & Vines events. We’ll certainly be sipping on a few. There’s more news from these guys coming up in the near future, so keep your eyes on WBM and TWTW for all the goss.
Speaking of gossip, which winery has a big empty window ready for a very small, but very shiny and flash looking mini-brewery? We’ve had a chance to check out the custom rig and it’s a very fancy unit with all the bells and whistles. It’s got more shiny stainless steel than a pie factory. We couldn’t get the winery name out of anyone though. Any hints? @beeradar and let us know.
The hop harvest has pretty well finished and we’ve just received a care package of fresh hops from Myrtleford. We’re resisting rolling around naked in them, and instead are planning a hop-burst beer with plenty of late hop additions that’ll really show off the delicious fresh hops. We can’t wait!
